İHA - ‘Sandwich Panel Products of Field Hospitals in Istanbul are from Teknopanel’

Teknopanel, manufacturing sandwich panel and EPS in Mersin, Sakarya, Izmir and Istanbul factories, has become the solution partner for sandwich panel products used in the ongoing construction of Sancaktepe and Atatürk Airport Field Hospitals in Istanbul as part of the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).

Construction works of the field hospitals -initiated in April in Istanbul- have continued around-the-clock with 8 thousand workers. It is planned that Sancaktepe Field Hospital and Atatürk Airport Field Hospital provide service within a closed area of 70 thousand square-meters and 52 thousand square-meters, respectively, both with a capacity of one thousand bed capacity, in a short span of time such as 45 days.

Teknopanel General Manager Orhan Kahveci stated that they took part in this great project by sending rock wool insulated roof and wall sandwich panel products for the single-storey hospital and lodging buildings included in the project. General Manager Kahveci, emphasized the importance of hospitals, which are under-construction as part of the fight against COVID-19 outbreak, and said that they are glad to take part in this project as Teknopanel. Kahveci said: ‘COVID-19 outbreak, which has taken hold of the world, has also led to critical problems in our country. I believe that in emergencies such as earthquake and epidemic, organization of field hospitals, which have high-capacity intensive care units and are completely equipped with medical devices and hardware, by the government and national charitable associations will be effective in terms of performing emergency interventions and decreasing the deaths, especially in densely populated cities like Istanbul. As Teknopanel, we support this project, which is of great importance for our country.’

Expressing that they have sent 90 thousand square-meters of rock wool roof and wall sandwich panels, which were produced at Sakarya factory, to be used in Sancaktepe and Atatürk Airport Field Hospitals for both hospitals and lodging buildings, Kahveci stated: ‘We have accelerated all processes of purchasing, production and transportation for contribution to the timely completion of the construction. We have been the supplier of many exclusive projects around the world to date, yet we are proud to be one of the solution partners of Field Hospital Project, which has a great importance and value for the present day and future of our country.’
